About FIRST®

"It's more than just robots"

The Valhallabots participates in the yearly FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC), a program by FIRST®.

FIRST® (For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technologies) was founded by Dean Kamen in 1989, and is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring young people to pursue STEM careers and learn essential skills.

It runs four main programs, however the Valhallabots primarly takes part in their main program: FRC. FRC is a competitive six-week competition where high school students design, build and program a 120 pound robot which then competes.
